A Must-Have Book for Teaching Internet Safety

This is the second installment in Lee Jordan’s One Creepy Street series. In the first book the main character, Annica, learns of the dangers of texting while flying. In this second book Annica learns another important lesson: Be careful who you befriend on the Internet.

Internet safety is a vital social issue for today’s children. Yet too many adults are either unaware of the potential dangers on the Web, or trust children to know and avoid these dangers. Therefore, a child’s Internet use may not be properly monitored by a responsible adult. This book is a must-have tool for opening a conversation with a child about Internet safety and practices.

Spider on the Web presents a clever metaphor in which the reader is able to understand the potential danger of connecting with ‘this type of spider’, but Annica does not. Humor and playful rhyme invite the reader into the story and the action rises quickly. Fortunately, there is a safe resolution for Annica, but the author warns that continued diligence while on the Internet is necessary.

As a teacher, I bought copies of this book for my classroom and our school library. As a grandparent, I bought copies for each of my grandchildren. This book belongs in every home that has a child and an Internet connection!

As a Parent and a Grandparent, I consider myself knowledgeable about the dangers of the internet! Passing that message along to our children is not as easy as you might think! Adult to young teen or in between, this book will give you chills! Both books by Lee Jordan deliver a positive message and hopefully they lead to a conversation with your children!

Wonderful Story that Makes a Necessary Point

I know many parents who would be thrilled to help their children learn about web predators in a way that was informative rather than scary. This book does just that. Annica the teenage witch has a misadventure due to a "spider" on the web who tries to trick her. All's well that ends well but children reading this will be alerted to be more aware and thus be safe! Beautifully rhyming, beautifully illustrated, and filled with a cast of (mostly) friendly characters!

About the Author

Ted Andrew's many gifts included clairvoyancy, aura interpretation, past-life analysis, dreams interpretation, numerology, and Tarot. He wrote many books on these subjects, but is best known for his work with animal mysticism and for his bestselling Animal Speak: The Spiritual & Magical Powers of Creatures Great & Small. Certified in basic hypnosis and acupressure, Andrews was also involved in the study and use of herbs as an alternative path in health care, focusing strongly on esoteric forms of healing with sound, music, and voice. In addition to his interest in metaphysics, Ted was a trained pianist and often used the Celtic harp, bamboo flute, shaman rattles, Tibetan bells, Tibetan Singing Bowl, and quartz crystal bowls to create individual healing therapies and induce higher states of consciousness.

Anyone who wants to understand healing better should read this book. While I understand that some people have a negative review because he passed away and did not live as long as they think he should have knowing what he did, do not understand that it has nothing to do with the accuracy of what he writes or his death.
