Fascinating and entertaining reading!

This book is well written and brings the reader vividly to the scenes of Africa in the early 1900 all the way to current day ! Through her description writing, the writer was able to accurately remind me of the smells, sounds and scenery in my childhood which was spent in Kenya. So having stayed at Lewa as an adult, i found it fascinating to learn about the history of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and the amazing people behind it. It's a magic part of Kenya - and obviously attracts all types of people from humble me to Royalty - Prince William and his now wife The Duchess of Cambridge have stayed there!! I have nothing but admiration for the determination, strength and resourcefulness that these earlier settlers had and also for the current owners who face the modern day challenges of preserving a unique part of Kenya's wilderness. Definitely recommend reading this book!

There has been only one edition, the first edition, available one time for distribution when UKbased Bene Factum decided to print a second edition in early January 2015. But it never happened. I contacted them and was told that they have canceled the project. I also contacted, the author Natasha Breed. She confirmed that Bene Factum is not reprinting oe publishing her book. Miami based More Books, and Virginia based Book Lab accepted money for the Bene Factum book, but never mailed them to customers, as there was no such book from Bene Factum. As such, pre ordering this book published by Bene Factum will not materialize. I know, I tried and lost.

Sally S. Eko grew up in Ghana and Nigeria. Her parents migrated from Nigeria to Ghana when she was a baby. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, in 1981. She worked briefly with American Savings Bank and Nigeria Consulate, New York, before moving back to Nigeria in 1982. She completed her National Youth Service in the Nigeria in the National assembly in 1983. She worked briefly with the Nigerian Television Authority in the Audit Department and later in banking positions. She obtained an Executive MBA in 2000 from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria.

Sally moved back to the United States in 2001 to be close to her two children. Sally is very passionate about the plight and progress of black people wherever they are. Sally currently lives in Atlanta.

Pleasantly suprised

I did not expect what I found in this book. He takes you back to Chemistry and even teaches/reviews the basic concepts for you even better than my teachers did (and then relates it to Botany). I am starting a garden/orchard from scratch just for the experience and thought a thorough read on Botany would make me better. I took Bio, Chem and Physics a while ago and did pretty well (except for Chem...my teacher lectured more about pancakes than ionic and covalent bonding). I did a lot of research on Botany texts and this seemed like the best one. I was not disappointed. If you're a scientist at heart and love the natural world - buy this book. I even ordered a Chemistry text for review due to inspiration from this book. The scientific disciplines are all related, and I hadn't realized that fully until now. I'm not even that far in and already feel that I got my money's worth with the wealth of information. Good luck, and forge forward.

A nice book! It helped make my botany class experience much easier. I had to learn a hefty amount of material over the summer weeks, but the text and presentation helped prevent migraines. It also includes online support like quizzes and definition reviews to help with studying.

No preaching, just honesty

Heartfelt and honest assessments of how people came to believe in a Supreme Being and the difference it made in their lives, and in dealing with their alcoholism. What comes through are short, readable, non-preachy stories in original voices. You don't have to be an alcoholic in recovery to take away something important that will apply to your own life. If you are having struggles in any part of your life and finding no relief, you may find something to relate to in these pages.

Great translation, but buy the longer edition.

Both Dan Garber and Roger Ariew are excellent early modern scholars, especially on Descartes and Leibniz. This edition contains Leibniz's 'Discourse on Metaphysics', 'On the Ultimate Origination of Things', the Preface to his 'New Essays', and the 'Monadology'. All of these texts are essential to any serious study of Leibniz's thought. However, as Dan Garber carefully explains in his recent book, there is a great prejudice to read too seriously the later Leibniz and interpret very important aspects of his early thought teleologically in light of the later Leibniz of monads. This Hackett edition is sufficient for anyone wanting the most recent scholarly English translations of Leibniz's famous short works that I mentioned. But for a few dollars more, and if you're really interested in Leibniz that money won't be an issue, definitely buy the 366 page Hackett edition of the same translators (rather than this miniscule 84 page edition) to have a variety of short writings of Leibniz written between 1675-1716. The edition linked here: Philosophical Essays contains everything in the smaller Hackett edition, plus numerous other short writings by Leibniz, as well as his writings on some of his contemporaries and some of the very famous letters he wrote to Clarke, Huygens, Wolff, Bernoulli, Arnauld, etc.

Leibniz was an extremely extensive writer. I have read that there are over 75,000 different pieces of writing that are left over for editors to put out (which are still far from being published in anything near a definitive edition). However, if one is serious about studying Leibniz, it is best not to just go right at the Monadology and the Discourse. Much of Leibniz's earlier thought is just as important to read. It's hard to get your hands on a good English copy of Leibniz's work, but you can start with what Hackett gives you, and the Bennett translation of Leibniz's 'New Essays' and the Theodicy can also be found here on Amazon, along with some full volumes of some of his correspondence.

Don't Miss This

A wonderful book in many ways. Especially, for a self-published book, in its lack of errors, a bit of a rarity these days. Written in a very droll, tongue-in-cheek way, but also very informative. I learnt a lot about Germany, a place I have never visited, apart from airports, despite having learned German at school.

I learned a lot about beer as well, although I do not drink it. And cheese, which I love. And human nature. Why, for instance, would a man who had bought a cheap tent, clearly falling apart, and who had then received a gift of a superduper, state-of-the-art tent - in fact the very model which he had been offered in the shop before he set off, but shied away from because of the price - insist on carrying on with the one which seemed (and indeed proved to be) incapable of seeing its way through any night which contained rain, wind or wild animals?

Excellent. I would have been proud to write it.

Brilliant read, great book, funny and interesting!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, hard to believe a self published book as no errors! As I enjoy camping, love visiting Germany, and am partial to beer and cheese, I loved the book from start to finish.

Only problem is that I keep wanting to use the word undercrackers!

Chris Lown has written about his month-long camping tour of Germany, utilizing what may have been the cheapest lightweight tent ever offered for sale to nescient purchasers. He does manage to impart much useful information. But descriptions of his tribulations and lack of personal spiffiness, combined with his whimsical observations of people who cross his path are what make this such an entertaining read.

It’s often said that travel is broadening. Considering the quantity of beers and cheeses Lown consumed as an earnest evaluator of their palatability, I suspect he found that to be true.

I enjoyed “Tents & Tent Stability…” so much, I bought it in paperback as a gift for a relative.
