what a sweet read

This is a very sweet gay for you story. there is very little angst involved. The main characters are very likable and I felt their relationship progressed realistically. it wasn't insta luv, which unless they are werewolves,just doesn't work for me. This is a character driven story about two regular guys that became friends and later fall in love. My kind of story...Loved it!

A lovely quiet romance

The wonderful thing about romance novels is that they allow the author and the reader to explore all the permutations of relationships--gay, straight, young, old, first, last, and hopefully forever. In HHCS, author Sue Brown takes the opportunity to examine what happens when a mature man who's lived life, has children, and identifies with a straight lifestyle suddenly finds himself attracted and falling for a gay man of a similar age. What really drew me to Peter was his willingness to accept his burgeoning feelings for Evan, maintaining an open mind to the idea that his future happiness may actually be with a man. Although he was taken by surprise by these foreign feelings, he ultimately embraced them because he realized that love, even gifted in an unconventional package, is still a precious gift.
I really appreciated this story, as it's rare for me to come across books focusing on characters of this age range and life experience. I found the exploration of this relationship refreshing and realistic, and would have given the book five stars if it we just a bit longer, as I wanted to spend more time with Peter and Evan. But, still, so worth reading. Thumbs up!

Interesting Read

I enjoyed the beginning of this book more than the end. The beginning evoked emotion whereas the end was just ok. I liked the development of the characters feelings but it just seemed to get a little strange as the book went on.
